Texas Recovers!

Uniting The Recovery Community In Texas!

OUR  MISSION:

To change public perceptions about recovery from substance addictions and co-occurring mental health conditions, increase accessibility to recovery supports, and highlight the power of recovery to change lives in a positive way.

OUR VISION:

We see a future where everyone in Texas who seeks recovery can find it.

WE WORK TO:

Support all pathways to Recovery;

Broaden public awareness and understanding of Recovery as a positive force for good;

Educate Texans about Recovery from addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions;

Eliminate stigma and discrimination often associated with people in or seeking Recovery; and

Serve as a support system, and rallying point, for people in Recovery, including their family, friends, and allies.

We foresee a society where recovery is a respected part of the fabric of society. Texas Recovers! estimates that there may be up to 500,000 people in recovery in Texas. These people have recovered from a chronic condition and are now valuable contributing members of society. People in recovery make good neighbors, good employees and good friends. They are often more spiritually centered and willing to help their fellows to find recovery as they did. The misguided stigma that is attached to people in recovery is a serious roadblock to many who would otherwise be willing to seek help, and Texas Recovers! member organizations and individuals seek to break this stereotype. Many successful people are in long term recovery from addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions and Texas Recovers! hopes to help these people share their stories of success. We hope to help all these people in recovery in Texas to find a positive face and voice. Texas Recovers! strives to broaden public awareness and understanding of recovery and to increase opportunities for those seeking recovery along with providing support and education to those who care about friends and family in recovery. Texas Recovers! conducts research to help educate, and inform the community about addiction, co-occurring mental health conditions and recovery. We also facilitate relationships among local, regional, and national recovery groups to provide a central rallying point for all people and groups involved in the recovery community in Texas.
